PhotoSpec Get the app

Privacy Policy

PhotoSpec is built so that your photos never leave your phone. This page explains exactly what that means, and the one place where we do handle data.

Last updated: 4 August 2026

The short version

  • Your photos are processed on your device. They are never uploaded to us.
  • We operate no server that receives your photos. There is nothing to breach.
  • No account, no sign-up, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking in the app.
  • The only personal data we ever receive is an email address, and only if you type one into the launch-notification form on this website.

The app

Photos

Face detection, background separation, retouching and the final image are all computed on your phone. The app contains no code that sends a photo anywhere. Working files are temporary and are cleared when the app starts; the only photo that persists is the one you choose to save, and it is saved to your own gallery.

What we collect

Nothing. The app does not create an account, does not assign you an identifier, and contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising software. It does not read your contacts, location, calendar, or messages.

Permissions, and why

CameraTo take the photo. The camera is used only while the capture screen is open.
Photos / storageTo save the finished photo to your gallery when you ask for it. You are asked for this permission at the moment you save.
Screen brightnessThe front camera briefly turns the screen white while taking the photo. This acts as a light so your eyes catch a highlight, the way a studio ring light does.

PhotoSpec does not record audio and does not use a microphone. Spoken guidance is text-to-speech played through your speaker; nothing is listened to or recorded.

Payments

Passport, visa and ID photos are free. If you buy Pro Headshot, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card number, and the store tells us only that a purchase was made.

This website

This site is hosted by Netlify, which — like any web host — records standard request logs such as IP address and browser type in order to serve the pages and to block abuse. We do not add cookies, advertising tags, or visitor analytics of our own.

The launch-notification form

If you enter your email address to be told when the app is released, that address is stored by Netlify Forms and is visible to us. We use it for one message — the release announcement — and nothing else. No newsletter, no marketing, and we do not sell, rent or share it. Ask us and we will delete it.

Your rights, children, and changes

Because the app collects nothing, there is no app data for us to show, correct or delete. For an email address you gave us on this site, you may ask for a copy or ask us to delete it, and we will. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; the same request address applies.

PhotoSpec is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change ever means we start collecting something, we will say so plainly rather than bury it here.
