Short answer. Walgreens lists two printed passport photos for $16.99, with a digital copy sent by email at no extra charge. It is an in-store service at most Walgreens locations, and no appointment is needed.

What the U.S. passport photo has to meet

  • 1 color photo, taken in the last 6 months
  • 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm); head 1 to 1 3/8 inches (25–35 mm)
  • Plain white or off-white background without shadows
  • Printed on matte or glossy photo-quality paper — no photocopies or scanned photos
  • Online renewal uses an uploaded digital photo

The State Department lists “a friend or family member” among the people who can take your passport photo.
